6 The Terrace, KwaZulu-Natal
New offices built for client, United African Marine Insurance (Pty) Ltd, within Westway Office Park, Durban. This multi leveled office complex was particularly challenging, being built into the side of a steep incline. Long columns and strategic engineering was required on this project which was completed in 2011.
Waltons Head Office, KwaZulu-Natal
A brand new 5 000m² warehouse and 420m² office component has been constructed in the Riverhorse Business Region for client Bidvest. The project included a 2 700m² double storey office with basement alongside the warehouse which is now the new home of Waltons Stationers.
Westside Office Park, KwaZulu-Natal
Construction commenced on the new Westside Office Park early in 2012 with the initial corporate offices for Dimension Data. The site is the first of a number of buildings to come on stream within the established Westside Office Park, opposite the Pavilion Shopping Centre. The two storey building incorporates various green building concept elements with indigenous landscaping and a water feature within the park.
Tshelimnyama Pedestrian Bridge, KwaZulu-Natal
The recently completed pedestrian bridge extends over the N3 and allows the residents of Tshelimnyama safe passage over the road to the nearby Westmead Industrial township. Construction included a walkway which extends from the bridge through to Chesterville, Westville and the Pavilion Shopping Centre transport routes. The initiative was undertaken by The South African National Roads Agency.
Construction has recently commenced at La Lucia Ridge on a two storey office building which will boast magnificent views over the Indian Ocean. The design incorporates a number of green elements, one of which is the grass rooftop and open space allowing occupants of the office park a relaxed and tranquil environment to do business in.
Riverside Business Park, KwaZulu-Natal
Warehouses are situated on both the East and West side of the N2 providing easy access from the National Road as well as North Coast Road, a prime industrial location. Current tenants include Worldnet, Tracker, SDV Logistics, Kone and Avis.
New corporate offices are being built for client South Africa Home Loans consisting of a basement area, two floors of offices and a roof level.
Cape Town Film Studios, Western Cape
Two new film studios have been built in Faure near Cape Town on what is measured as a 200 ha site. 60ha form the first phase. Construction commenced toward the end of 2008 and the first phase was completed in 2010. The film studios are situated at the corner of the N2 and the R310, toward Stellenbosch in the Western Cape.
Hyde Park Hotel, Gauteng
A hotel consisting of 150 rooms was constructed from the 8th floor of the existing parkade of Hyde Park Shopping Centre in Johannesburg. Access to the hotel is possible from within the Hyde Park Shopping Centre as well as the outer ring roads. A scenic lift carries guests from the ground through to the top of the structure, and a gym takes up the top floor of the hotel.
eThekwini Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal
The client, Capensis Management, required the construction of a hospital to accommodate up to 300 beds and specifically incorporating a specialised cardiac treatment centre. An H-shaped hospital was built within 17 months consisting of 4 and 5 storeys at the Riverhorse Valley Business Estate. Easy access provided from the N2 with parking facilities for patients and hospital staff. KwaZulu-Natal’s first fully digital hospital, specializing in cardiac treatments and comprising several other wards including maternity, pediatrics and a renal unit.
Zevenwacht Shopping Centre, Western Cape
Construction of a regional shopping centre for client Zenprop. A single level shopping centre was completed within a 13 month time frame. The centre was designed in a horseshoe formation and representative of the winelands area within which it is situated. Anchor tenants include Woolworths, Spar and the Edcon Group. Natural light, landscaping and use of materials create the tie-in to the winelands surrounding the centre.
Bayside Shopping Centre, Western Cape
Extension undertaken to existing shopping centre for clients Acucap and Old Mutual. The project included a redesign of the building and was completed within an 11 month timeline.
The Crescent Shopping Centre, KwaZulu-Natal
A joint venture shopping centre development with Pangbourne Properties Ltd and Nedbank Corporate was built within 9 months. The centre was designed in a circular manner with shops facing onto the parking area on ground level. Additional parking was provided on the first level. Shops are situated on the three levels, predominantly the ground level with parking outside each entrance and additional bays on the roof which are undercover. There are a number of anchor tenants including Pick ‘n Pay, Coricraft and Food Lovers Market.
Blackburn Pedestrian Bridge, KwaZulu-Natal
A pedestrian bridge built across the N2, between Blackburn Village and Umhlanga Rocks New Town Centre to allow for easier access between Blackburn and the Gateway precinct. This project was a Joint Venture with Devru Construction for client South African National Roads Agency. The pedestrian bridge directly addressed the need for safe passing between the village of Blackburn and the Gateway precinct.
Hillcrest Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal
A new two storey hospital which includes doctors rooms, a maternity ward, operating theatres, general wards, a radiology unit, as well as various other administration and operational areas. The Hillcrest Private Hospital was developed and built by J.T. Ross who are major shareholders of the healthcare facility as well. Visit the website for more information.
Gatemax Medical Centre, KwaZulu-Natal
Office block with medical suites required alongside Umhlanga Hospital. Located opposite Gateway Theatre of Shopping at Umhlanga Ridge and built for client Musasa Trading (Pty) Ltd. Design and construction of a 6 story office park with 4 storey basement and parking.
